Prepare to travel through space with funky beats. Moon Base Invasion is the newest virtual reality DJ experience that features the legendary Mix Master Mike. The first 360 VR video, Magma Chamber was an outstanding success and has gathered acclaim the world over. In fact, Magma Chamber 360 VR was recently featured at the Cannes Film Festival. As with Magma Chamber, Moon Base Invasion as conceptualized and design by the creative collaboration of Jonathan Winbush and Tony Washington.
Moon Base Invasion represents a step forward in virtual reality entertainment and is a great example of how the medium is being used in different places. You’re a passenger on an out-of-this-world vessel that seems to be powered by Mix Master Mike’s sick beats.
You can see him hard at work as his music comes to life all around you. The visual are something to behold and the whole thing comes together really well.
We tried it out using a Samsung Gear VR headset after discovering it in the Samsung VR video library.
The visuals are striking and Moon Base Invasion does a superb job making you feel like you’re part of the show. If you’re a fan of electronic music, Mix Master Mix or simply like to see VR used effectively then this is for you. It blends a distinctively sci-fi style with Mix Master Mike’s brand of music to produce something engaging.
Moon Base Invasion was “made with mettle” meaning that the design team made use of mettle, a VR/360 plugin for adobe After Effects. Jonathan Winbush and Winbush Design and Animation have already won Vega and Muse Creative awards for work on Magma Chamber 360 VR and we wish them all the best with Moon Base Invasion.
